The Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed a lawsuit filed against Dani Alves by Liga MX club Pumas. The team had demanded compensation for the breach of contract after Alves' arrest in Spain in January 2023.
However, the CAS ruled that Pumas had unilaterally terminated the contract, which led to the dismissal of the case. Pumas had sought $3 million for the contract breach and an additional $2 million for damages to commercial agreements, but the court rejected the claim.
The Universitarios plan to file a new appeal to seek compensation for damages, although they will need to prove concrete financial losses resulting from the player's departure.
